I'm a first year student here at the University of Cincinnati! I'm about 100 miles away from my friends and family in Columbus, Ohio. I am full Asian, specifically Laotian. I am the oldest of two, I have a younger brother named Mike who is a freshman in high school. I attended Hamilton Township High School where I was also Student Body President, a Varsity Cheerleader and was apart of the Varsity Track & Field Team where I received many honors. In the fall I decided to GO GREEK! I am now an initiated Pi Beta Phi and I couldn't be any happier with my decision and the family I am now apart of. I now live to wear whine and silver blue. I am currently a Floor Model at HollisterCo in Kenwood Town Centre. I also do a lot of print modeling and have had a lot of experience in retail. I have visited Laos, Thailand, and Japan as well as over half the states in the U.S. I am a hopeless romantic and an under cover writer. Most who know me don't know my act for writing and how in touch with the world I am. I'm not ashamed to say that people who have never had the chance to get to know me would say I'm that typical popular girl who gets everything she wants, but it certainly isn't that way. Give me the chance to impression you and I won't let you down.
I am currently majoring in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics.
I plan to teach 9th & 10th grade at Hamilton Township High School.
I also plan to be a Varsity Cheerleading Coach.
Why do I want to be an educator?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be an educator. I was that little girl who invited her neighborhood friends over to play school. I have always loved taking the leadership position in everything I do. I was born and raised in a small community outside of a big city. I attended a school that went from being a lower standards school to being an A+ top school in Ohio. In high school I never understood why teachers got so involved with their students and why they cared so much. Finally it hit me. These teachers weren’t placed in our school system to just teach. Our school took these teachers through a huge process before they chose them. These teachers make it their life mission to understand their students and not only to teach them, but to make them understand why they’re learning what they are and to make them want to learn. I want to be a teacher because I enjoyed the staff I was not only taught by, but was raised by. I loved attending a tight knit school and having teachers who cared so much about our futures. I want to be a teacher because I have a passion to succeed. I don’t want to just see myself succeed I want to see others succeed and I feel like if someone is having trouble finding a way I can be that one person to point them in the right direction. I love building relationships, meeting new people and inspiring people to want to be more. I want to teach students not only material that will help them in the classroom, but things that will help them later in life. I want to be an educator because I want to teach students that despite their opinion they will always have to honor and respect others and even though they feel like the material they are learning doesn’t have anything to do with their future, there’s always a chance. I want to make someone’s experience. I want to be the influencer of the influence. Today’s children are tomorrow’s future. I want to make it aware that every step you take in life counts.
I hope to be a better educator by learning more about the way technology can be implemented in to the classroom.
I also hope to do exceptionally well and become more tech savvy.
Summary: Standard 4 says that educators need to promote and teach safe media etiquette. In our collage we have examples of social media websites that allow users to upload pictures which can then be distributed. When signing up for these networks the terms and agreements state that the media they upload will and can be used by other people without their consent and that they no longer hold copyrights. In the terms Fair Use teachers are allowed to use media as long as they educate, cite and use appropriately in the classroom. Many times teachers use photos and videos to carry out messages in order to teach their students. Distributing media for money is illegal, but is allowed to be used educationally.
